Webinar Spotlight: The Power of Proceduralism at CPPA China

We’re proud to share that Radiance60’s founder, Douglas Leong, was invited to speak at a special webinar hosted by the China Film and Television Industry Alliance (CPPA). Titled "The Power of Proceduralism", the event was held on September 6, 2020, via the CineHello Network (Over 2 Million users)
, a major digital platform supporting China’s creative industry.

Organized by CPPA, this webinar is part of their ongoing efforts to promote industry development, nurture talent, and elevate technical standards across China’s film and television sector. Their initiatives foster global exchange and innovation, making them a key player in shaping the future of entertainment production in the region.

In “The Power of Proceduralism,” Douglas shared the journey of how a small studio leveraged procedural workflows to deliver high-end CG and VFX shots typically associated with much larger teams and budgets. The session explored how procedural techniques — particularly in Houdini — were used to build entire worlds, simulate destruction, and bring complex digital creatures to life.

“This is a story of innovation over limitation,” Douglas said. “Proceduralism empowered us to scale our capabilities and punch well above our weight — and I’m excited to keep sharing this story across Asia to inspire more studios and artists to embrace this approach.”
